Monrovia Bulldogs Varsity Loses Lead Early In Defeat
Monrovia Bulldogs Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 10-2 loss to Plainfield on Friday. Plainfield scored on a single by Cooper Martin in the first inning, a home run by Carter Knoll in the first inning, and a double by Jack Burkhardt in the second inning.
The Monrovia Bulldogs Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Plainfield, giving up ten runs.
Plainfield got things moving in the first inning, when Martin singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
Bryce Pax earned the victory on the hill for Plainfield. The fireballer surrendered two runs on three hits over five innings, striking out 12. Ryne Clawson threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
James Maude took the loss for Monrovia Bulldogs Varsity. Maude went six innings, allowing nine runs on 12 hits, striking out four and walking one.
Monrovia Bulldogs Varsity socked one home run on the day. Nolan DeMott put one out in the second inning.
DeMott led Monrovia Bulldogs Varsity with two hits in three at bats.
Plainfield totaled 14 hits. Cobi Harris, Grant Starnes, Todd Priar, and Thomas Klein all managed multiple hits for Plainfield. Plainfield was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Hunter Hrbek made the most plays with 16.
